hi guys... i just took nclex exam (under the state of california) in HK and received a letter from them that i passed. but since i'm a foreign grad, they're requiring me to have an SSN#. how can i get it? are there any requirements? :)
another thing is that i'm also--unfortunately--one of those ill-fated people who took the last june 2006 board exam. so i took a retake for the test 3 and 5 this year since they said that cgfns will not issue a visa screen for us--2006 passers.
so what can i do next? my nclex will be put into such waste if i didn't pass the boards here. (and believe me... it's really hard... very different from nclex exam... )
are there any alternatives that i can do/use to get a visa? or i just really have to wait for the board result?
likewise... what are the other requirements needed to become a CA-RN... becuase as of now, all i know is that i have to pass NCLEX, TOEFL/IELTS, and that visa screen in CGFNS.
more to that, is that i've just been employed to a hospital here in my country and i still have 1 year and 8 months contract with them. what will happen if i exceeded the 3 years that Cali BON had given me to avail SSN#? am i going to take again the exam? what will be the process to that one?
thanks! :)

you should be an immigrant before you can get your ss number...so better look for an agency to help you before your nclex expired

I guess you can't go anywhere else unless you pass your tests 3 and 5, then pass TOEFL or IELTS. If I remember it right, the requirements for the Visa Screen are NCLEX or CGFNS plus passing the English ProficiencyTest. Once approved, it's valid for 5 years. Here's a link for more info.

From then on, you can find a sponsor/agency where you can proceed with your VISA application.
Best of luck to you.

check out both the Phillipine and International forum as plenty of info in there regarding all your questions, You can not get your SSN number until you are in the USA with a valid work visa
Just to add it is only your application with CA that expires you do not have to retake NCLEX

I have no idea. Get help from lawyers in your country and from the sources listed above in this thread. Good luck.

does ca BON require u to have CGFNS? cuz i also did get the CGFNS but i i'd recently learned that only 2 states requiring that certificate these days... my friend just got the ielts and nclex to get his visascreen. U don't also really need to get the local board there cuz it's not required in CA.
