Just wondering if my facility is the only one around that doesn't have the portable blood pressure machines on the floor? We have to do it manually, understandably the more accurate way. Anything I can say to my DON to convince her to get us some portable ones?
At my facility, most of the nurses/med aids purchase their own wrist cuffs and automatic arm cuffs. If I get a wonky/abnormal reading, I follow it up with a manual pressure
I carry my own BP cuff, I often check it for accuracy. Most important thing with them is to make sure you have proper arm positioning. That being said, I also follow up with a manual if the readings are off in some manner.
