Authorization to Test

Published

Hello everyone. I will be working in Pennsylvania and have finished nursing school and have submitted all the paperwork for the NCLEX and for a temporary practice permit. That was about a month ago. :angryfire I haven't even received my temporary practice permit. Can anyone tell me how long it took them to get their "authorization to test" letter? It may be difft in other states but I think everyone still needs "permission" before they can schedule the NCLEX. This is crazy- considerring I finished school over a month ago. Anyone have any ideas or feedback please let me know- as I am bored and supposed to start my nursing job 11/8 if and only if I get my temp license.:imbar

I'd call the board and find out what is going on. My ATT was taking awhile in Georgia and I called and I guess spoke to the right person cuz she made me eligible right then and there. Good luck to you.

My state's Board of Nursing website indicates that they don't allow the 'authorization to test' letters to go out until they receive the student's transcripts and verification from the school that the person actually graduated. Is it possible that they didn't receive your transcripts or something like that? You should probably call to find out what is going on. Good luck!

I graduated in Jan of this year and received my ATT in May. Go figure....:(

Hope you don't have the same luck I had! Good Luck!

I graduated in August and finally got my ATT papers in October

Thanks for your responces. I guess I'm not the only one who has to wait. I actually just called them and they said they are "opening mail from 9/8". They can't even tell me if they received my information. But, she said I should get my authorization to test next week. How that's possible when they are a month behind, I don't know- but it sounds good to me. So, I guess I'll just have to wait and see. It's amazing that states are so far behind, when there is a nursing shortage? Is it hard to hire someone to open the mail? Very odd.
