Australian trained nurse registering to work in Ireland...

Hi,

I am having some trouble finding an answer from the nursing board in Ireland, but here is my issue:

I am an Australia trained nurse who is registered in Australia and Canada. I currently live in Canada, but I want to move over to Ireland. The problem is that the Irish registration board says that they require a 4 year bachelor of nursing degree, and in Australia, we do our degree in 3 years. I have emailed the nursing board a couple of times but I can't seem to get anything but generic information and I can't find an answer to this question.

So my question is, are there any Australian trained nurses out there who have successfully registered in Ireland with or without a bridging program, and were there any additional requirements (ie. years of experience, etc.) that you had to meet prior to registration?

Any help much required!

Regards,

Lou

Hey!

Sorry, this isn't answering your question. I'm just wondering how long the process was to get registered in Canada? Also, is it easy to find a job over there? I'd ideally like to move to BC. Otherwise I was considering Ireland...the first year of a four year degree is usually general studies. So perhaps ours does match up with the nursing units.

Sorry again for asking on your post :)

Process for Canada is not quick or cheap. Suggest reading many of the other posts/threads discussing this as well as the Canadian forum in regards job situation for BC
