If I were to work in America, and I had studied in Australia and have had 2 years of working experience, would I need to do an NCLEX test?

Yes, you must pass the NCLEX-RN (National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses) to work as a registered nurse in the United States, regardless of where you completed your nursing education. Even though you studied in Australia and have 2 years of working experience, the NCLEX-RN is required to obtain a nursing license in the U.S.

Here's a general overview of the process:

  • Credential Evaluation. Before you can take the NCLEX, an authorized credentialing agency needs to evaluate your nursing education and credentials to ensure they meet U.S. standards. This often involves submitting your transcripts, proof of your nursing license, and other relevant documents.
  • Apply for Licensure: Once your credentials are evaluated, you can apply for licensure with the nursing board in the state where you intend to work. Each state has its own requirements, so it's important to check with the specific state's Board of Nursing.

NCLEX-RN Exam: After your application is approved, you will be eligible to register and take the NCLEX-RN exam.

Passing the NCLEX-RN is necessary to ensure that you meet the competency standards required to practice safely and effectively as a registered nurse in the U.S.

Best wishes,
