Austin Community College Nursing Application scores

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what "scores" are currently being excepted for the ACC traditional RN program?I feel a like disturbed that with a maintained 4.0 and all my pre and co req's done I still might have to wait a full year to get in??? (even if I get 10 points for my HESI score) (possible score of 56 points on the 1st application)I don't think that people who have applied to the program over and over again with B andC averages should be accepted over people who have a 4.0 and a high score on their HESI exam. Does anyone out there think that is fair or understand why they would make a hard working Honor Roll student wait to get in behind a C student with more applications?I feel like the message they are sending is "take all your pre-req's at the same time to get them over with just get a B or C so you can get more points for waiting? Do we really want nurses who made C's in their science courses over A's?Love to hear your opinions![/quote']

For Fall 2012 they accepted 58.3 and above.

I got a B in Physiology and I'm doing just fine in the program. A lot of people get Bs and Cs in the pre-reqs, and while on the waiting list, re-take the classes to improve their grade. Obviously, those 2 pre-reqs, as well as pharmacology are extremely helpful to nursing, but will they make or break a nurse? Probably not. The nursing program is an entirely different playing field. Lecture, lab, tests, instructors, and skills are all very different from any other class. Our group has lost 5 students so far, all 5 of those students were very smart, and made good grades in pre-reqs. None of that mattered when it came time to apply skills (as in Skills Check-Offs). Does that mean they won't be good nurses? Again, probably not. They can re-enroll next semester, and do very well. Think back to all of the nursing care you have received in your life--were they good nurses? Did you know where or when they went to school, or what their GPA was? Probably not, and it didn't matter, did it? Don't make judgments until you are in the program. Better yet, don't judge at all.

And/or not all straight-A students make the best nurses...

How did you get that information? Did they post that after they sent out letters of acceptance?

I just applied for my first time to ACC to begin Fall 2013, I am well aware that I wont get in on my first try, but I am really hoping to get a shot at the Spring 2014 start. Otherwise I will have to take a different math course than I already have and I am really not wanting to do that.

Does anyone know what the cut off for Fall '13 was? I applied with 55.6 points. My ranking placement was 166 of 406. They just said that 117 students were accepted this time. Last Spring I believe they accepted 127.

Hi I was wondering if having a bachelors would help? Also I don't have a very high GPA. But my prereq is good. what are the chances I can get into this program with a 3.0 overall and 3.8 pre-req? I haven't taken the entrance exam yet but I tend to do really well on standardized tests. Thanks.

No. It's purely formula based. If you go to austincc.edu/health/rnsg you will find an orientation video that explains formula and selection process.

I had a 3.88 and it took me 2 app cycles.

Can anyone who is in or completed ACC/Level 3 give some details/insight as to what it is like? Time committment? Are clinicals 12-hr days? Is it insane with two courses overlapping? Should we try to complete one course over the summer, so Fall is easier?

Any insight appreciated from Level 3's!!!!
