U.S.A. Texas

Anyone out there who would like to commiserate about waiting anxiously to be accepted to the ACC ADN program in the fall 2012 semester?

Have you received your petition for Nursing skills yet? Pre-reqs and co-reqs completed?

Hope to hear from some of you (or all) soon!

Yeah, it is near impossible to get in the first time. I took nursing skills this past semester and I had a 55 and a girl in my class had a 56, both of us did not get in our first try! Gives you time to take BSN classes at least (finishing up my last needed BSN course right now!!!) but man I'm ready to start in the Fall!!

Good luck to everyone!

anyone happene to know what the cut off point is?

We won't know the cutoff until acceptance letters go out...then those who didnt get in will represent the cutoff! Last semester the cutoff was atleast a 56, cause a girl in my skills class didnt get in at a 56 (that doesnt mean that everyone with a 56 didnt get in, because obviously there will be multiple people with the same score...then they go by the date the application was physically turned in!)

oh I see thanks. The wait is just killing me...for those that got in mind if I ask what was your ranking calculation (points)?

btw got in as in for those that got the petition for nursing skills...I know the acceptance letting won't go out til the first week of June...

So does that mean they accept people strictly from chronological point value, or do they only let a certain percent of reapplicants in every semester? I worked really hard to get a 56, and am wondering whether I shouldn't get my hopes up for this Fall

Savvy.F did u get a nursing skill petition email for summer? if so most likely you are in ....

I got the e-mail on monday, I just thought a lot of people got into nursing skills and weren't accepted straight-off

acceptance doesnt go based on nursing skills petitions unfortunately (though if you received a petition I am pretty sure it means that you have high enough points that they could possibly accept you!?!)...I received a nursing skills petition for last Fall '11 after applying for the Spring 12 class, but held off to take it until this past Jan. when I didnt get accepted my first try (if I had been accepted I would have taken nursing skills the second half of the semester). I applied my first time with a 55 and didnt get in. I'm pretty sure that the acceptance does go on points only, and among who submitted first when it comes to those with the same points!!

AHHHH cannot wait until June!!!

I know though that no matter what any one tells us, us nursing students are CrAzY and we want to squeeze out every drop of info we can!!! The "ACC Fall 2011 Hopefulls" thread has a lot of helpful info on it if ya'll havent checked it out yet!!

Good Luck to everyone!! I went through the anxiety last application cycle, so I can kinda force myself to be calm this time around...BUT I'm ready to KNOW, ya KNOW!!!!!

Hi, y'all -- I just finished level 4 at ACC and thought I'd chime in.

Unfortunately, getting a petition for skills doesn't mean someone will definitely get in for their application round. There are a lot of reasons for that, which the department could probably explain better than I can. I think part of it is just accommodating all the people who need to take it, and managing the flow of students. And they also like to have people get it done, in case they do end up admitted when other students decline their acceptance.

The cutoff ranking score will depend on a lot of factors, including how many applicants are reapplying (and thus get the reapplicant points added on), and how many seats are available for level 1. It's hard to predict -- I speak from experience when I say that trying to figure it out will make you crazy.

In the event that there are many people with the same score and they have to cut off some of them, they go by the date/time that the application was submitted. So for example, they have seats for everyone over 55, but not all the people with 54 (totally hypothetical numbers here). They will take as many 54s as they have room for, going in order of when the application was submitted.

The waiting sucks, I know. If it helps any, nursing school will FLY by! It really seems like just yesterday I was waiting for my nursing skills petition ... now I'm studying for the NCLEX and buying navy scrubs for my RN job!

ACC has an amazing program. We heard over and over at every facility how we were better-prepared and more hands-on than students from any of the other schools in the area. The majority of my class already has their jobs lined up, and the others have already interviewed. No matter what campus you choose, you're going to have a great experience if you work hard and enjoy the ride.

It isn't always easy, but it's definitely always worth it.

Good luck!

Is anyone else obsessively checking their mail/email every day for notification? I know the website says we'll hear from them in June, but I can't help myself. By the way, do they send notification by email or regular mail?

I've got 56 points, did all pre- and co-requisites in just two semesters (that almost killed me!), but it sounds like that's no longer a guarantee of getting in. I did get the nursing skills petition, so i'll be at EVC on Tue/Thurs during the second summer session. Will anyone else here be there? I'm crossing my fingers for a miraculous acceptance letter. Not sure if my dreams are unrealistic, but I still have hope! I just want to hear from them!

I had two friends from class who had 51 and 48 points, and neither of them even got the nursing skills petition, so I'm holding out hope! :-)
