Hi Everyone, I'm looking to relocate to vancouver and work as a neonatal nurse in a level 2 nursery.

Just have a few questions...

which hospitals in vancouver have special care nurserys?

Is St Pauls a private or public hospital?? and how many cots in their nursery? and what is their reputation like?

What the nurse : patient ratios are?

the best location for me to live (me and bf) if working in vancouver, not driving and want to be in amongst all the fun?

Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.

Thankyou, love Kim

We don't have private hospitals. St. Paul's is right in downtown Vancouver. My nephew was born there. My best friend has worked there for 20 odd years and loves it.

Not driving, you want to live in the West End, can be expensive.

Check out BC Children's Hospital (BCCH) too (career page at: http://www.bcchildrens.ca/Careers/default.htm) Its a nice hospital with (obviously) more babies than you could shake a stick at (its attached to the woman's hospital too). The area surrounding the hospital is nice and has lots to offer with respect to housing. If you are planning on buying, be prepared for outragous prices. Rent is expensive but one can do it. Its not downtown but you can easily walk, bike or bus it downthere. I've never worked in their nursery so can't comment there.
