Augustana University BA in Nursing?

I have been researching accelerated bachelor's programs and have narrowed my search down to a few schools. I have applied to Augustana University (formerly Augustana College) in Sioux Falls, SD, and will strongly consider this school if I am accepted. I will be relocating from CA with my wife and kids and we are looking for a reasonably priced school in a location that is good for families with a low cost of living.

My one reservation about Augustana is that the degree conferred is a Bachelors of Arts with major in nursing, rather than a BSN. I have been trying to find out more information on this as it seems this is pretty much the only school which offers such a degree. Can anyone give any feedback on this? The school is accredited by the CCNE and approved by the South Dakota Board of Nursing, and claims to have a very high NCLEX pass rate and job placement. The courses and prerequisites seem equivalent to the other ABSN programs I have looked at. Is this a deal breaker or is it not something to worry about?

The accelerated program I am in is the same as Augustana in that you earn a BA not a BSN. It makes no difference and I would not worry!

Hello, things turned out fine. I passed. Haha. Program was pretty easy. Lots of busy work. I had an alright experience. I was in the first class so I think they struggled with having nontrad students, like respecting students, quick schedule changes, etc. Lots of new instructors since I’ve been there though so I’m sure it’s a new culture. Good luck!

Hi, I have just got an offer from ABSN of Augustana. I started to worry. What was your tuition? Except tuition, are their any hidden charges? for example, student fees. Thank you
