  1. Hello, things turned out fine. I passed. Haha. Program was pretty easy. Lots of busy work. I had an alright experience. I was in the first class so I think they struggled with having nontrad students, like respecting students, quick schedule changes, etc. Lots of new instructors since I’ve been there though so I’m sure it’s a new culture. Good luck!
  2. New nurses currently start at $25 in South Dakota. It was recently raised from $22. But it seems like nurses get paid more in every other state.
  3. Thank you for your input! I am glad that you are happy you did!
  4. I hate to rant about my nursing education experience, but I have not enjoyed it one bit. I felt that my professors taught me the material but they did not stimulate my desire to be a nurse, in fact, they left me wanting to find a different job (and I graduate tomorrow). I know that it isn't their responsibility to stimulate my desire to be a life-long learner or even enjoy nursing, but I have no desire to be a nurse at all. I am a nontraditional student and I have another degree besides my BSN and I felt that my professors were great when I was in school. They stimulated my desire to do research and learn after graduation so I expected that my nursing school professors would do the same. My nursing program just had negative things happen all the time...from cheating suspicions to professors/students just acting inappropriately and it's taken its toll on me. I am curious if anyone else has had a similar experience as me in that nursing school was awful but working as a nurse was fantastic. I am hoping that I will enjoy being a nurse but I am really afraid that I won't.
  5. I hope you don't mind me asking, but why does your school not allow you to retake a course if you get a C? As for your grade, I found that youtube videos helped immensely. Have faith in yourself and you can do it!!!! :)
  6. I'm probably a rare individual here. I actually passed anatomy and physiology with over 100% in each with only studying a few hours a day. (I was very, very lucky that my prof offered an extra credit point on lab practicals) I was beyond surprised that I actually did this. I took a few years off from college and they were my first classes going back. I took them in the summer, so I had a whole semester packed into 4 weeks. With everything being taught so quickly, I felt like I retained it better because I didn't have class MWF. In fact, I had class every day, all day. And I would do this over again with every class if I could. I get rather lazy when I have a whole semester for everything. If I was to give anyone advice (and this is what I did), I would look at videos online. I used my book for the first exam then I realized it was worthless. I seriously just looked up youtube videos for everything. I drew pictures. I came up with silly ways to remember things. But the youtube videos saved me. I couldn't even tell you what book I used, I never read the thing. In addition, I also thought about function as I studied. Lastly, I spaced out my studying. I never once crammed. I could not recall something very well if I had only studied it once prior. I needed a few minutes here and there. Now, lets not get started on AOIs.... haha
  7. The accelerated program I am in is the same as Augustana in that you earn a BA not a BSN. It makes no difference and I would not worry!
