August OBLC

I've been reading some of the post. I am new to allnurses and I was just wondering if any of you would be attending the August 3rd OBLC at Fort Sam. For any of you who have been there how was it and how do you like the Army?

Waivers usually do not take too long. I am sure that they will work hard on getting yours in so that you can attend the Oct OBLC. I just commissioned someone who will be attending OBLC in Oct and she has not talked to anyone to determine where she will be stationed. From what she was told, as long as you get in before the date that you have to leave, you should be fine. We are both going AD and will arrive on 12 Oct.

I am coming in as a CPT as well. I hope to see you there!

BTW, has anyone received their orders? My RFO was incorrect so I am waiting for new orders.

I guess I'll see you there!!!! I got verification of Oct 14 OBLC on Tuesday and will be assigned to Walter Reed afterwards. I had pretty much given up on October and planned on leaving in January. Now I have to go back and re-plan. I'm excited though---how are you feeling? At least you'll be there with a friend!

I am not sure if she will be going or not as the class is now full. We were both going to Eisenhower, but she will now be stationed somewhere else.

I am feeling nervous and excited...been waiting for so long and having an almost nonexistant recruiter does not help. I look forward to meeting you there!

getnphd,

you will love ft. gordon! i don't know if you have been there as yet but i just left in june. my husband was assigned to the derm. clinic before he went to riley for a year and now to our new location of fort leonard wood (glwach). eisenhower aka ddeamc is a decent size facility with a newly renovated "starbucks" which is always packed in the mornings. i think the public health or community health clinic is located on the first floor. there is a good choice of schools for you children to go to. you probably want columbia cty. right outside gate 2 is grovetown and they are building it up pretty quick. the mall just had some additions added so they now have a lot of new stores. i don't know where you are located now but let me know if you have any questions. my friend is a receptionist at c21 larry miller realty and if your interested in buying a home she can point you to some of the better realtors. there are a lot of available rental homes as well (ours being one of them) in the area. atlanta is about 1 hr and 45 mins away (my driving) i-20 is the most boring interstate to drive along.

anyways let me know if you have any questions and good luck in oblc, hopefully i will be there in the next 2 years. :wink2:

Hi 68,

Right now I live about 120 miles away in South Carolina. I am looking for a rental home because we just bought our home two years ago (we built) and it is not a good time to sell. I have been told that the public health clinic is only open M-F, so I was hoping that I would be able to go home on some weekends. Anyway, please drop me a line via the email feature here, I would like to know more.

Thanks in advance!
