what is the difference between attending physician and a resident physician?

The order you call the physicians is dependent on your hospital and shift. You'll learn it on the job.

It gets more interesting.At our hospital we would call the assigned intern first

for orders, then there was a House Staff /Attending hierarchy.

Of course, not unusual for the Attending to come along and change the orders

of the Intern especially the first few weeks until they had the order preferences

down pat.:smackingf
