Atlanta Hospitals Hiring new RN Graduates

U.S.A. Georgia

Hello All,

I'm a new RN graduate and I have applied to a number of Atlanta hospitals but have not had any positive leads. I will be taking the NCLEX in July. Let me know if anyone knows of any hospitals hiring people like me. Gwinnett Medical Center's RN Residency program is already closed until next year.

I graduated in May and took my NCLEX Nov 12th...I still cannot find a job...I have tried Northside, CHOA, Emory, N. Fulton, Grady, Gwinnett Medical, South Fulton...Piedmont...Dekalb Medical...All of these hospitals say that they are not hiring any new grads right now or to try back in March or May...I got my LPN 2 years ago and now have my RN...I never thought it would be this hard!!!

I think that when you are a new grad you have to get started early...waiting until after you take you nclex or waiting until you graduate is not a good time to start. Hospitals only hire new grads twice yearly and the best time to apply is in Jan/Feb for May grads and the best time to apply for the fall grads is Sept/October. If you go to the websites for hospitals there is information available about when to apply for the new grad programs. I am sorry that you are having a hard time finding a job....but your difficulty in finding a job may be due to your procrastination in regards to finding a new grad position. You have to get started EARLY!!!! Just my :twocents:

I wish I could have done that before but I already had made a commitment to a family that I was nannying for...So I didnt want to leave them hire and dry...and then my elderly grandparents moved in with me(88 & 87 years old) so I wasnt able to commit to anything :(and that is a job in itself... But of I have heard that some hospitals hire new grads year round just based on what their needs are...so if anyone knows of anthing???

Anyone who can give me some advice on attending grad school I would greatly appreciate it. I'm going to be graduating this May and have already started looking/applying for jobs. I would LOVE to work in L&D but I know that they usually require a few years experience first. Because of this, I'm willing to work in different areas just so I could get some experience first. I have been looking at different new grad programs in different hospitals and most of them require a year or so full time commitment after completion of the program. The dilemma is that I would like to go to grad school after a year of working. Is it possible to work full time for a year then go to graduate school? And will some hospitals pay for grad school if I work for them?

Thanks in advance. :)

I graduated in December and got a internship job at Northside. Yes, there is a one year committment after the 12 week training, but they do have tuition reimbursement programs. Also, you can go straight into L & D when you graduate. I know of several of my classmates who are working in the L & D internship. I am not sure what the requirement is for grad school for all of the schools, but I think you have to have at least a year, if not two of experience anyway.....
