ATL Nurse Residencys Winter 2022

Published

hello,

I haven't seen a thread yet for new grad nurse residencies starting in feb/march 2022. Thought id make a thread to post updates. So far I have applied to CHOA, Emory, Wellstar, and Piedmont-waiting for Northside and Grady to open up

Right!! Same girl, I got an offer at emory too but im undecided because emory is paying lower that other hospitals but the contract is for 1 year which is great but IDK LOL

Yes OMG!! Emory base pay is sad LOL. That’s why I wanted to talk with the recruiter to see if that base pay is with or without specialty pay

One thing to consider is that after a year at Emory you’ll be getting the same pay as some of the other hospitals bases, if not more. That’s how I was looking at it ??‍♀️?

That’s true too!

After a year at emory it says $32 for mother baby unit. At Grady its $32 and after 3 months on the unit the pay bump up to $36. ??‍♀️ I just don't know ? but I do see what you are saying as well.

Yeah. Most hospitals I heard will give you the base pay but depending on what type of unit (ex mother baby) they will also add like an extra $2 during residency, but I don’t know if Emory does that.

Oh gotcha! I guess it’s unit specific, maybe make a pros and cons list to help you decide?

YAYYY! Congratulations! Do y’all know if Emory also offers specialty pay? Or is the base pay is the same for everyone regardless of the unit?

Hey, nothing happens to you if you break a contract covid has made it a bit different so you would have to check with HR. Typically if you break it you have to pay a fee that ranges from 1400-2500. My friend has personally done this to travel and it made sense for her since she makes more than that in a week now. Also you may not be eligible for rehire for a certain period of time anywhere from 6months to a year at most. However, that’s changed to since so many nurses quit most hospitals are taking nurses back.

Hey ladies, it’s sad but hospitals don’t to that big of a pay increase you’ll maybe get  a dollar and some change after a year. I have several friends who have been nurses for a few years now. If you want that big of a pay increase you would have to leave your current hospital and come back after 6 months to a year. I will say Grady from what I’ve heard makes you work for your money even with travel contracts they are the highest paying.

Did anyone ever make a Grady residency group?? I want to join!

I know the thread says Winter 2022, but I didn't see another for Summer 2022. Anyone applying/get an offer for the Summer residencies?

Is anyone else out of state? How are you applying for NCLEX are you getting licensed in the state you’re graduating from and then endorsing your license or doing license by examination?
