ATI TEAS Advice

Published

Hello everyone,

I have been studying for the Teas all summer while taking a summer class. I am at the brink end on finishing the science portion in the study manual. I feel confident when studying the flash cards I have made, but I get anxious when thinking about the day of the test (which I have not signed up for quite yet). I have not taken the Teas exam yet and this year will be my first attempt. I have know idea what to expect the day of the test. Can anyone can give me any advice that has helped you leading up to the test or the day of the test?

I will not be taking my TEAS until next Spring, but my friends all recommended purchasing at least one of the ATI practice tests. Try to simulate the testing environment as much as possible. For example, set a timer for each section and take it somewhere quiet/free of distraction. You may find it beneficial to take some time to relax the day before so you do not burn out.

I agree, purchasing at least one of the practice exams from ATI is very helpful. These practice tests are EXACTLY the same as the test you take at the testing center. Not the same questions of course, but how they are timed, how the questions are presented, etc. i found it very helpful! It eased a lot of my test anxiety too! Leading up to test day, I studied using the ATI study guide for a couple weeks before I took the test, and when I felt confident in what I had studied in the book, I took the practice exam online. The best thing about taking the practice exam online is that it will tell you what you need to go over and the sections in the book that cover those topics. That helped me focus my studying as I got closer to taking the actual test. I got an 85 on my first attempt. Since my school is very competitive, I took the teas again, and pulled my score up to an 86. It was enough to get me in, so I guess it worked!

I hope this helped! Good luck!

Hello,

I personally thought the TEAS was a breeze! It's basically an SAT with biology, basic chemistry, and anatomy. If you have utilized review sources or websites, you will rock it! If you are still in doubt, I suggest looking up mometrix TEAS review on YouTube. The videos are lengthy, but they will prepare you well. Just remember to breathe and trust your instincts! Good luck!

Here's a link on how a guy got a 97 overall on his TEAS: https://allnurses.com/teas-exam-help/how-i-got-1078365.html

As someone who is currently studying for the TEAS, I highly recommend his method. Do a practice test 1st to assess where your weaknesses are. From there you can use your time wisely to work on your weaknesses and brush up on your strengths. Continue to use the practice tests from mometrix and ATI to further assess and study effectively. I didn't buy the books, my college library had the updated ones. So, I would check your local libraries, if you don't want to pay anything. You can google free online TEAS practice exams and use those as well. There's also apps on your phone you can get to study for the TEAS. There are plenty of resources. Creating and practicing flashcards only goes so far. You have to practice the math problems, practice reading passages and being tested on them, practice identifying proper grammar, etc.

Here is a website that has TEAS resource and study materials: English and Language Usage

Review and practice! Then assess where you are with practice tests and review and practice s'more!

As a learning tip on TEAS 6 prep, when you take the ATI full practice tests, pay attention to the explanations for the WRONG answers as you finish each question. I did that and was happy to find many questions on the TEAS itself covered the topics that were the WRONG answers on the practice tests. It makes sense - think like a testing entity! They're trying to give you a tip if you pay attention!

In case folks haven't seen it, there's a free ATI questions app you can download at the App store.

Thank you so much for replying! I have checked out the link you provided and I have enjoyed reviewing a few materials from the website!

I haven't thought about looking at apps that are provided on my phone before you mentioned it. I have recently installed one on my phone and so far so good! I will probably download another just to see if there are differences between the two. Thank you!

I have to disagree with you that the practice tests A and B purchased online through ATI are EXACTLY the same as the test you take at the testing center. I was given this advice as well so I purchased both practice tests A and B from ATI website and studied from each for about six months. I just took the Teas 6 exam on 8/18/17, however, this is not the case AT ALL!! in Northern VA!!!!!.I was in SHOCK AND VERY disappointed in myself FOR BELIEVING SUCH as I began the test and finished that NONE of neither the PRACTICE A or B QUESTIONS from the online study practice were on the TEAS EXAM, IT was COMPLETELY DIFFERENT READING PASSAGES. I felt like LIKE A FOOL! So really focus on knowing the information and not memorizing the practice A or B online with ATI!

Best Wishes!!
