Hi, I am thinking about doing the LPN-BN degree program at Athabasca, and I am from Ontario. I was wondering if anyone has done any of the nursing programs there and what you thought of it.
Also, I was wondering how you found housing when you went there for the month or so for clinical.
Thank you so much!

R U an RPN already?
My GF is doing her Master's Health Studies via distance education and loves it. She did her degree via Laurentian distance program for diploma RN's.
I am confused with why you would have to do clinical that far away.
I would research this a bit more.
R U in a distance program?
????
I am in my 2nd year of the RPN program, but I now realize I would like to be an RN. Now that a degree is required to get your RN Ontario does not offer a RPN-RN bridging program... but there is a distance ed university (Athabasca) in Alberta that offers a bridging program. Although all the theory can be completed from here the clinical must be done in Alberta.. so I would have to go there to do that, which is offered in blocks for 1 or 2 months at a time. I have looked into it and talked to someone from the university.. I was just hoping someone that has done it could give me some insight as to how they found it!
Thanks!

Athabasca is a small town in Alberta. There clinical placements could not all be done at the local hospital. Recheck with them and find out if you would be placed in Edmonton(UAH, RAH); Calgary (Foothills, Lougheed) or where else they utilize.
