ASU summer TCNP 2016

Anyone applying to summer 2016 at ASU? I am planning on doing so here soon. anyone else? anyone taken the TEAS yet?

Hi! I just got accepted for Spring 2016! If you have any questions about the process let me know!

I just took the TEAS last week! Application is finished, just waiting on admissions to process a transcript I had sent to them 80,000 weeks ago :whistling: lol. Have you taken the TEAS yet? If not, let me know if I can answer any questions! Good luck!

I am scheduled to take it on the 27th.. Im so nervous lol! is it super hard? do you have any suggestions for anything that helped you?

I studied almost exclusively from the ATI study manual and did both the practice tests in the back of the book, as well as the two online versions. I would definitely recommend those-- especially the online ones because the way they score you is the exact same layout/breakdown as on the actual exam. I've seen a lot of people post on here that they did significantly better on the actual exam than they did on the practice tests, and I found the same to be true! So I think its great that the practice exams basically over-prepare you. In the practice tests, I had a tendency to make some dumb mistakes like anticipating what the question was going to ask rather than carefully reading what it was actually asking. Luckily, I don't think I did that on the actual exam-- but I might have if I hadn't realized that I was doing it on the practice tests..lol. Its definitely a tough exam but very doable. The study manual really touches on every topic that will show up on the test so if there are sections that you keep finding to be difficult, look into them further online until you feel confident in your understanding. Most of all, try not to let your nerves get the best of you. Study hard, but definitely just vibe out to some good music on your way to take the test, trust your preparation, relax, and you will do fine! ;) Rooting for you... good luck!

Oh-- and on those topics that you feel like you need additional understanding... I would actually suggest referring back to your notes from class if the topic is something you've studied before (before going to the internet). When you're in class, you tend to memorize/organize thoughts in a particular way-- or your teacher may have had a unique way of teaching. So I think reading those notes will be more likely to stir up memories of how a concept works than reading a new explanation on the internet would-- even if its re: the same topic!

I couldn't agree more with kelts118! I took the TEAS and found that I did 15% better on the actual exam than the online practice tests. If you have any issues and you do choose to study up online, I'd recommend Kahn academy. I spent wayyyy too long studing there. I think I essentially relearned all of my high school biology, haha. Good luck and you'll do great!! :)

I didn't get into summer because of a dumb mistake on my part, so I am applying for spring 2017. How is nursing school so far? I have heard that the teaching is sub par and not what people expected. what do you think of the program?

Hi Lakili,

I'm sorry you didn't get in! Have you considered the fall program that's starting soon or was summer your only desired option? You might want to consider posting this question on another thread that I created quite awhile back called "ASU-Summer/Fall 2016", as it has a lot of summer students on it. I'm not in the summer program, otherwise I could share my opinions with you. :)

Hi again Lakili,

As I was logging off, something occurred to me. I believe that I heard somewhere that the TEAS exam score may only be valid for a year after you take it, so keep that in mind. I'm not sure if that would even affect you, but I just wanted to mention it just in case.

I also know that there were some students who decided not to attend the nursing program after all (move, major change, etc). I know one person who was in the Fall 2016 semester who just dis-enrolled in mid-may. You might want to call the nursing advising office to see if their are any spots.
