ASU Post-Baccalaureate BSN 2016 - Welcome

Published

Hi All!

My name is Tarah and I'm in the ASU Post-Baccalaureate BSN program that started in 2015. I found an allnurses thread from last year that I followed while applying and getting accepted into the program. It was started by a guy named Alex and he was really great by letting us know what to expect from the program. I'm sure all of you who plan on applying to the program are right in the middle of all that crazy!

We are on our summer break for another few days. Please feel free to ask any questions you have about acceptance to the program and what it is like during the various semesters. Anything I can't answer, I will find people who can.

Good Luck Everyone,

Tarah

Inkeeto, I don't know anything about FAFSA because I didn't get any loans or financial aid, but I know a lot of students in the program did and I'm pretty sure they were just fine by the time the program started so try not to worry! I also can't remember when I got the acceptance email last year...lol I want to say it was in October.

I just looked at the All Nurses thread for the program last year and we got our acceptance emails on October 29th.

Thanks so much Melanie! This is such useful information. I can't thank you enough for posting on here!

I was just wondering about breaks during the year. I know it is a super fast-paced program, but do we get any breaks in between semesters (weeks or days, I'll take anything) and when do those typically occur? Thanks again!

Score confirmation emails just went out, guys! Check your emails! It looks like we have until Monday to send information back to them, and we should be hearing about acceptance the week of November 2.

Way to be ahead of the game thanks. I'm reviewing my grades for the application, first I was surprised how perfect my advancement score was. Then I realized my TEAS score is wrong (higher than it should be sadly), then two of my lab science grades are incorrect as well (this time lower). What the heck, this is stressing me out :nailbiting:

I just lied, whoops, they sent me the grades for another student. Not good

They WHAT?!?!? That's insane!!! Was the other student's name and personal info on there too? I would be kind of upset if that happened :wideyed:

Yeah it has the student's name, ID number, then their grades and advancement score. I called the academic advising office but of course all the advisors have left for the day, so I'm waiting till tomorrow if they can resolve it. I'm pissed and even more stressed.

I hope everyone else's information checks out…READ CAREFULLY lol

I really hope mine is wrong, because I had calculated my GPA as a 3.85 and they have it as a 3.71. Thats a pretty significant drop! Time to triple check everything.

edit: figured it out. They were supposed to replace my BIO 202 grade with another lab class that I received an A in but they left it as a B. Time to email my Advisor and double check.

Mine seems to be right. Did anyone get an excel spreadsheet instead of a PDF?

Hi All.

Sorry it's been a bit since I responded. The first 8 weeks of the fall semester have been rough. I finally got a survey that I made for the 2015 class out. I'm still putting together all the results in an organized format but I thought I would give you some of the highlights. We have 47 people in our program. These numbers are based on 37 people responding (80% reported scores).

The average entrance GPA was 3.912459

The average TEAS score was 85.75711

The average entrance score was 1.857145

The high entrance score for the program was 1.97

The low entrance score for the program was 1.76 (There were 3 people that got into the program with this score)

10 people said they worked throughout the program.

9 people said they worked at the beginning of the program and then stopped.

The range was from 5-25 hours per week, with most reporting around 12 hours.

As of the spring and summer semesters, 8 students (out of 37) got straight A's. My survey did not include the fall semester grades.

You should all be getting your acceptance emails in the next 2 weeks. So exciting!!! After that, there will be this process of scanning your intent to enroll, getting your drug testing done, etc. After that point, we will start to get you set up with a Facebook account and try to make some time in December for a meet up where you can ask whatever questions you have.

I should be able to respond to questions more frequently now.

Good luck

Tarah
