ASU Post Bacc - 2019

Hello! I wanted to start a thread to see if anyone else on here is planning on applying to the ASU PBCNP for the year 2019. From what I understand application is due 9/18. I have an appointment to meet with the nursing adviser 3/30. I am super excited and have gone back and forth for years on this decision but after working in an ER for the past year I have made my decision. I graduated from ASU with a general studies BA in 2016 and started a MHA at GCU last year but have now put that on hold to just pursue my BSN. Any other hopefuls??

I also wanted to ask... are there any other single parents who are applying to the program? Perhaps this was already discussed earlier in the thread and I missed it. Any tips on paying for childcare and bills during school without working? I feel like I might have to live off of student loans which kills me to think about.

You will definitely have to live off student loans and rely on friends/family to help you watch the kids and/or get them to/from childcare on days where the hours are long (finishing at the hospital at 7:30 pm, having to arrive places by 6:30 A.M. depending on the hours of your childcare site)

It's an MSN and not NP so be sure that's what you want! Huge difference in pay and autonomy.

I have 4 kids and will continue to work part time throughout nursing school. My older 3 are in school and already attend before and after school care and the baby is already in daycare. Thankfully I do have an active helpful partner now so he will be able to help a lot with transport and the bulk of the bills. Definitely much different than when I was doing my BA on my own with 3 kids. All of my kids have gone to Phoenix Day which is an amazing daycare near ASU Downtown. ASU actually helped with childcare assistance and works closely with that center. They often have scholarships for childcare so it is worth looking into or putting your kid on a waitlist. With the scholarship it is only $40 a week for full time care.

Hi everyone, I'm just finding out about this program and plan to apply next year, so Spring 2020. I have a question for anyone who has completed this program (or is in it currently) with children. If you have a good support system at home, how doable is this program with multiple children? I have 3 kids 4 and under right now so they would be 5, 3.5 and 1.5 for this program. Thanks!

I don't know about anyone else, but the anticipation is killing me! I know we probably won't find out for another 1-2 weeks, but I am constantly checking my email for news. haha!
