Associates Degree-Med Assist to RN

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Hi all! Just wondering if anyone knows if any credits or classes transfer from the A.S Medical Assistant program to RN program?? I am graduating in 2021 from my Med Assist program and want to get my foot in the door at a Dr's office, Urgent Care or even Hospital if possible and then go back for an RN program. I did the Med Assist program because it was available online and was a way to get in the medical field easily while still being able to work fulltime. I want to also find an accredited online program for an RN program where I live as well.

Specializes in OR, Nursing Professional Development.

Pre-requisite courses such as anatomy may transfer. MA courses would not as it is a separate program. Transfer credit acceptance would be dependent on the regional accreditation of your current school and the policies of the nursing program you attend.

100% online pre-licensure nursing programs simply do not exist. There are hybrid programs where the lecture portion of classes can be done online; however, nursing clinicals will need to be done in person.

Yes this is what I have to do as well for my Med Assist program, 75% online and 25% clinicals and externship. I am earning my Associates Degree which is why I was hoping some might transfer like my gen ed classes ( biology, english, algebra, computers) and thought my anatomy, pharmacology, nutrition, medical terminology might transfer...

Things like anatomy, physiology intro and 2 would transfer.
