hello! i argue with many people that are not in the nursing profession about whether bachelor degree nurses make more than associate degree nurses. I just completed my first year of nursing school in an associate program and i really believe me make the same as new graduates. Am i wrong or right?

starting out they make the same in almost all instances. However, certain positions may prefer or require a BSN.
There have been numerous discussions on this in the past and they usually get rather heated...sometimes downright ugly.
has it made a difference for me in salary? no.
Do I think that I am a better nurse than an ASN nurse? no.
am I glad I got a BSN? yes.

It depends on where you are.
In NYC I called around asking about jobs and was told I would be paid an extra 3,000 USD a year for my BSN.
In NC, the hospital where I am working as a traveler starts their BSN's off with an extra 1,000 a year.
In PA, one hospital I considered working at told me it was an extra 1.00 an hour.
So, you can't really be right or wrong, because it depends on the hospital.

I am working toward my BSN simply for the fact that that's where I want to end up and I don't want to continue in school the rest of my life! Heck! I'm already 43! LOL!
But no, I don't think that ASN's make less than BSN's, but I want to be able to possibly work in management after I can't work on the floor anymore. That's my reasoning...and besides, we were told by an instructor in our program that ASN's are better prepared than we will be.....so...differences? None... Personal preferences? My own.
Go for your ASN, and be the best nurse you can be...that's what counts in the long run anyway!
Good Luck to you!
