I'm not a nurse yet, I've been working as a medication aid for six months now. At my facility we have about 40 residents, a number of them 2 person transfers and several of them are pretty high fall risks (hence why they're here). When I first started we had a night shift med aid through out the night and then a short shift caregiver from 12 to 4. I Thought this was a bit sketchy given how many two person transfers we had but this last week they cut that short shift entirely.
Is this normal? I'm really not sure where to find the legalities of it but it sure doesn't feel appropriate for our facility.
Any help or input would be greatly appreciated!

LTC have different staffing rules in different states and patient acuity may also play a role:)

Check with the BON, due to it being an assisted living facility they may be able to get away with high staffing ratios. LTC have mandatory staffing ratios for caregivers that have to be recorded each shift for the state.
If they can cut staff they will, due to the all mighty dollar
