Asked to not recertify d/t expensive supplies

I was asked not to recertify a patient only going into her second episode. I believe it's because her supplies are expensive. I'm usually begged to keep patients for a second episode even if they are doing great. This patient isn't doing well at all and I'm asked to discharge???? Help. I need advice.

If the boss does not want to provide services, they don't want to provide services. Not much you can do, perhaps provide a referral to a competitor.

Is it wound care supplies?

No and I would like to be more specific but I'm

paranoid. Our "boss" and managers call us into meetings if they catch wind of clinicians talking amongst ourselves or "complaining" over our schedules, being too busy etc.... We have a high turnover and the rest of us end up picking up the slack at the expense of our physical and mental health. Sometimes we need to vent to one another but find ourselves looking over our shoulders. It sounds nuts....but true. These specific supplies are outrageous but not forever. I can't in good conscious discharge. Im more upset then I've enver been in my years in HH.

I would love to put that in my discharge note..."discharged per request of manager" lol.

Honestly, I would write that as well. It sounds like this would be an unsafe discharge, which, pt could call the state to file a complaint, and then here they come into the office to review charts, etc. I would definitely ensure that the patient is referred to another home care agency to protect yourself.

Based on your subsequent posts, I would look for a new employer.
