Most is EMT work I would imagine. I am comfortable with the requirements but not sure if EMT work in in my scope?
Any advice would be great. Also, they asked an LPN to do the same thing, I am really unsure of what is in the scope of an LPN. I was told by co-workers that they were not allowed to do an assessment, is that true?

I've worked medical tents as an RN. Mostly at a couple of local music festivals in exchange for free tickets. The other nurses and I pretty much assessed people, had tons of drunks and trippers "sleeping it off", and treated minor burns, rashes, removed ticks, and gave out safety advice and supplies: condoms, sunscreen, allergy meds, water and gatorade, etc. We administered ibuprofen, tylenol, benadryl, topical ointments, etc. We wrapped many a sprained ankle or knee. Anyone with the need for IVF were handled by EMTs and then taken to the hospital.
At a recent local event at which I did not actually participate professionally (rather, I was AT the event as a participant), our hospital set up a temporary ED and triaged tons of people, with the intent of preventing ED overload. It was staffed by a doc, an ARNP, a couple of nurses, and some EMTs/Paramedics. They administered IVF and zofran to drunks, sutured lacs, that sort of thing.
Typically, if there's a doc on site, we keep more pts at the tent and treat more complex problems. Also depends upon how far the tent is from the ED (a few minutes? 30+? maybe an hour?), the population (tripping hippies? rowdy fans downtown after a sporting championship? all ages? participants and spectators at a marathon or other outdoor sporting event?), and the purpose of the tent (providing on site basic first aid? Preventing ED overload? preventing ODs and bad trips?).
Hope this info was helpful. I really loved doing this the couple of times I've participated.
