Army Reserve RN, Rank vs Experience vs Prior Service question(s)

Published

I am a current ER nurse (3 years of ER nursing, 3 years as an RN) Yes, I have been an ER Nurse my entire nursing career. However, I was a Paramedic and ER Tech before becoming a Nurse. I have an AS in Nursing and approx 120 other College Credits (with no other degreee to show for it.)

I am Prior Service Army Reserve 9 total years as a 91B (Combat Medic.)

I have been talking with a recruiter about the STRAP program. I pretty much have all the info. for now on this program but have a few other questions that I need clarification:

1) What Rank can I expect when I enlist?

2) Does the loan repayment cover past (meaning currently owed) student loans?

3) How soon would I be available to take advantage of the student loan repayments?

Thanks!

1) what rank can i expect when i enlist? you should be commissioned as a 2lt with 1.5 years of constructive credit. promotion to 1lt should be in 6 months, and is only a paperwork drill.

2) does the loan repayment cover past (meaning currently owed) student loans? yes

3) how soon would i be available to take advantage of the student loan repayments? after you complete oblc.

thanks!

can tell you have been out for a while since 91b is no a 68w.
