Army Nurse Corps FY2013

Specialties Government

Published

Hey everybody, I'm starting a thread here for those applying to the Army Nurse Corps in FY2013. I figure this might be a good place to get to know other future nurse corps officers and a place for the veterans of the ANC to pass on some advice.

Share your story and hopefully we will meet down in San Antonio this Winter/spring of 2013

Ill start with my story,

I am a 28 y/o critical care nurse with 2 years experience in a level 2 trauma center in Virignia. I passed MEPS at Ft. Eustis and have submitted security packet, letters of reference and letter of intent.

I am applying to the October review board for Active Duty Army Nurse Corps for the 66H8A(critical care) and 66T(trauma) programs( I am not sure if they are still running this one, but you don't get what you don't ask for).

I am happily married with a baby on the way, my wife is 100% behind a move the Army and I feel blessed to have her love and support.

The road to the Army has been a long one with a degree in Biology, stint as a drug rep and return for an accelerated BSN.

I love being a nurse and love working in critical care. I hope to serve my country in uniform treating service members & their families at home and in forward deployed units.

I want to be an critical care nurse and officer in the U.S. Army and I hope that I will get to meet all of you in uniform at BOLC, at MEDDAC, CSH or FST in CONUS or OCONUS.

Here's to all us achieving our dreams of becoming Army Nurses!

Close, according to the JFTR you have 400 miles per day to travel. With that said it also states that if your trip is more than 800 miles than you should not be able to drive (although I have seen this done plenty of times). Just be careful so that when you go to close your voucher you don't get hit with having to pay for some of the trip yourself. Enjoy the ride and good luck.

In order to recieve TLE you must have your DA form 31 stamped by housing the first day you arrive, so ensure that this is done. Also try to get the statement of non-availability so that you have no issues when trying to get paid. Due to financial constraints rules that have been looked passed for years are starting to be followed very closely. Good luck.

When will I get a DA form 31? I definitely want to make sure I have everything I need to ensure proper payment. Thanks.

as a civilian, you will not get one. you will get your first DA 31 when you PCS to your Phase 2 site.

As an existing service member you will do it before school. If you are a civilian and newly reporting you will not get a DA 31 as your travel will be covered on a 1610, which you will not recieve and may never see as it is done in DTS and will be done for you at school or your first duty station when you submit your travel voucher.

Per Diem for Meals and Incidental Expenses (M&IE) and Lodging:

Per Diem is based on the lesser of the following:

1. Travel at an average distance of 350 miles per day, and if the remaining distance is 51 miles or more, per diem for an additional day is paid; however, when the total distance is 400 miles or less only 1 day of per diem is allowed (distance as determined from the Defense Table of Distance).

Well my wife is in San Antonio. She got there one day early just to be safe. it was 1050 miles for her to drive. she left monday afternoon and just arrived in San Antonio 1:47 am wednesday. I hope you all get there safely and have a great time at your BOLC. Good luck to you all. And thank you for your service.

Hi all, well I just spoke with the volunteer coordinator at Fort Sill and she helped me with quite a few little links. I am not sure if this one was already provided in this thread, but this seems like a huge help. Plan My Move - Welcome

It is the Plan My Move feature at army one source. It creates a calendar and all kinds of things to get you ready to move and when you should be doing things. Just a tip for you guys and gals, and I hope it helps.

Hi just wondering if you had issues doing that. I was also on the AD OML and now I want to do reserves. However my recruiter is having problem with getting a release of my application to be sent in for the reserves.

You need to write a letter requesting to be removed from AD OML inorder to apply for a RC commission. If your rec can't do it talk his/her boss to get it done. RC ANC board deadline is 3/11. Good luck

thank you so much. is the center commander the person I should talk to?
