Army Nurse Corps FY2013

Published

Hey everybody, I'm starting a thread here for those applying to the Army Nurse Corps in FY2013. I figure this might be a good place to get to know other future nurse corps officers and a place for the veterans of the ANC to pass on some advice.

Share your story and hopefully we will meet down in San Antonio this Winter/spring of 2013

Ill start with my story,

I am a 28 y/o critical care nurse with 2 years experience in a level 2 trauma center in Virignia. I passed MEPS at Ft. Eustis and have submitted security packet, letters of reference and letter of intent.

I am applying to the October review board for Active Duty Army Nurse Corps for the 66H8A(critical care) and 66T(trauma) programs( I am not sure if they are still running this one, but you don't get what you don't ask for).

I am happily married with a baby on the way, my wife is 100% behind a move the Army and I feel blessed to have her love and support.

The road to the Army has been a long one with a degree in Biology, stint as a drug rep and return for an accelerated BSN.

I love being a nurse and love working in critical care. I hope to serve my country in uniform treating service members & their families at home and in forward deployed units.

I want to be an critical care nurse and officer in the U.S. Army and I hope that I will get to meet all of you in uniform at BOLC, at MEDDAC, CSH or FST in CONUS or OCONUS.

Here's to all us achieving our dreams of becoming Army Nurses!

HOOOOOOAH!

ok so, I am tired and becoming dense lol, this is how I understand you. she has 30 months of CC, which got her the rank she will have. So if her report day for example were January 1 2013, and she went on active duty on that date(TiS starts date of rank starts). Does this make her captain board the same as 1st LT,s that joined the service around middle of 2010. Or would she be on the captain board with those that entered the service jan 1 2013. basically I am saying will she be a 1st LT for at least 42 months before making captain? lol. So tired and have to wake up early tomorrow to travel to recruiters office. Oh and I hope everyone has had some awesome holidays this year, stay safe out there.

Yes that is the TIS requirement. Even though she will be a 1LT she will still have to wait for that board to get promoted. She will not be comming in with 30 months time in grade. That credit is only for getting her in as a 1LT. She will still be outranked by any 1LT that was in with less than 30 months time in grade but was commissioned and promoted to 1lt before her. She will still have to wait the 42 months or when that board panel meets to select that year group.

Check she will be boarded with the 2nd LT and 1LT that came in in 2013. So she will be a CPT around 2017 time frame not including her wait for sequence number to be called for promo.

Does anyone know much about the Pre-BOLC class? Is this something that I have to sign up for, or does my recruiter have to do it?

MTB - From what LTC Weisgram told me, it looks like those pulled off the OML will be in one group and not scattered like previous years. So, hopefully, once the holiday's have passed we will be hearing something.... My recruiter told me about three weeks ago I that I would be pulled but I am still waiting on that official memo.

Brandonscott,

Weisgram also gave me that hard date of Jan 10, hopefully it sticks.

Hey VT, did col Weisgram say that nurses will be pulled from OML for all of the Army Nurse Corps? Or just he usagpan and lthet OML? I'm hoping to get out of OML for AD as 66h, I was told by my recruiter that I was #1 on OML.

Yeah I am a reservist and I applied so I am hoping that I get pulled from the OML and can go active. I have to go to BOLC for the reserves in Feb so I hope I know before then.

VT- awesome news for you guys, bummer about the rest of the ANC. I was told that I had a guaranteed commission in the reserves, but my recruiter wanted me to hold out till March to see if I will get pulled off OML. Hopefully it will be soon

Still waiting to hear from my recruiter as well...I had been told I would hear something by Christmas and I didn't. Hopefully we will all hear something soon!!

I hope we hear soon. I waited on the OML for active duty when I got my RN and now waiting on this is torture. Hopefully by the 10th like others have mentioned we will know something.

Wifes contract and letter of intent are both signed. Her precision course for critical care is guaranteed in the contract and signed as well. She has not been in touch with the branch manager yet, but as soon as she is I will update on school dates for her. Have a wonderful new years people. Those that are on the OML, good luck and I hope you will hear something soon. Keep us all updated.

Nursespouse are we supposed to contact the branch manager? All my recruiter told me was that I had to wait for my orders. Any additional information that you could share would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, and have a happy and safe New Year.
