Hey everybody, I'm starting a thread here for those applying to the Army Nurse Corps in FY2013. I figure this might be a good place to get to know other future nurse corps officers and a place for the veterans of the ANC to pass on some advice.
Share your story and hopefully we will meet down in San Antonio this Winter/spring of 2013
Ill start with my story,
I am a 28 y/o critical care nurse with 2 years experience in a level 2 trauma center in Virignia. I passed MEPS at Ft. Eustis and have submitted security packet, letters of reference and letter of intent.
I am applying to the October review board for Active Duty Army Nurse Corps for the 66H8A(critical care) and 66T(trauma) programs( I am not sure if they are still running this one, but you don't get what you don't ask for).
I am happily married with a baby on the way, my wife is 100% behind a move the Army and I feel blessed to have her love and support.
The road to the Army has been a long one with a degree in Biology, stint as a drug rep and return for an Accelerated BSN.
I love being a nurse and love working in critical care. I hope to serve my country in uniform treating service members & their families at home and in forward deployed units.
I want to be an critical care nurse and officer in the U.S. Army and I hope that I will get to meet all of you in uniform at BOLC, at MEDDAC, CSH or FST in CONUS or OCONUS.
Here's to all us achieving our dreams of becoming Army Nurses!
HOOOOOOAH!
To me this sounds like, they have met quota on nurses needed. So they want to find out who made it into USAGPAN before they officially say you were selected, know what I mean? Like basically, let's keep our choices close to the breast, and if they do not get chosen for the school than we will not select them for the ANC rather decline them or place on OML. thats what I take from it. Does that seem confusing?
Irishliz, Does that mean you did not get into school but you are on a waitlist for the ANC? Your recruiter really didn't have any more information? My recruiter just told me that there was no new information, my results were still pending. They actually released an official memo saying that the 66F results would not be released until they verified everyone got into school.
He told me that it was the OML list for USAGPAN, and not for ANC.. He repeatedly said that he has never seen an list for it- in the past-it's either a yes or a no usually. He has his Sgt calling around for more information. I'm very frustrated. Says he received this memo saying this at 10:18 this morning.
Ok I heard from my recruiter. I don't quite understand everything, but I am on a OML list (#3) for USAGPAN. He says that he is not sure why more people are not approved...like the powers to be are waiting for something. Can anyone explain this to me? Thanks!
Sounds like results are out with some pending on this OML list? Liz was your recruiter referencing the USAGPAN program in his statement of the Army not approving more people? I will hopefully be in touch with my recruiter at some point today and I'll try to get more info on the subject.

I get what you're saying. He kept saying he wasn't sure and we still needed to wait. Said it seems like they are "waiting for something" before they release more information.

See what your recruiter tells you..mine said it could be as simple as verifying acceptance to NEU and/or the school determining how many seats they will be allotted this year.
I am very curious to hear what they say. I am still puzzled as to why they need so much time to verify NEU acceptance. I thought that paper had to be part of your packet.
It wasn't required for the packet to be submitted but supposedly was a plus if it was there when the board was reviewing your packet.
