Hey everybody, I'm starting a thread here for those applying to the Army Nurse Corps in FY2013. I figure this might be a good place to get to know other future nurse corps officers and a place for the veterans of the ANC to pass on some advice.
Share your story and hopefully we will meet down in San Antonio this Winter/spring of 2013
Ill start with my story,
I am a 28 y/o critical care nurse with 2 years experience in a level 2 trauma center in Virignia. I passed MEPS at Ft. Eustis and have submitted security packet, letters of reference and letter of intent.
I am applying to the October review board for Active Duty Army Nurse Corps for the 66H8A(critical care) and 66T(trauma) programs( I am not sure if they are still running this one, but you don't get what you don't ask for).
I am happily married with a baby on the way, my wife is 100% behind a move the Army and I feel blessed to have her love and support.
The road to the Army has been a long one with a degree in Biology, stint as a drug rep and return for an Accelerated BSN.
I love being a nurse and love working in critical care. I hope to serve my country in uniform treating service members & their families at home and in forward deployed units.
I want to be an critical care nurse and officer in the U.S. Army and I hope that I will get to meet all of you in uniform at BOLC, at MEDDAC, CSH or FST in CONUS or OCONUS.
Here's to all us achieving our dreams of becoming Army Nurses!
HOOOOOOAH!
Hooah, thanks. I really am hopeful for results before the holiday, one thing this whole process reminds us is to be thankful for those members of the board. I am sure it is a tough decision selecting the participants for the US Army Nurse Corps. I am 110% sure they have amazing candidates and are having to select based on tough criteria/results. Just keep praying, I am sure they will release as soon as they can as I suspect they are being contacted by people also. I am going to be MIA for a while as we are having a house full for the holidays........If we hear before then, I will update everyone, in the meanwhile, I hope you all have a excellent holiday, and quite frankly, I am thankful there are such awesome people who want to serve our great nation. even if not selected, i am confident those in this room are committed to the Army mission and vision! Army Strong Y'all, Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks everyone for checking...Ill be calling today after my early am meeting to see what my recruiter says and ill update you if anything.. Been trying not to bug him too much:)))
In the end I'm grateful to have made it this far in the selection process and to have been considered by the board for the most amazing anesthesia program out there!!
Could anyone elaborate as to what exactly "scrolling" is? I asked a few of my active duty Army coworkers and they could not give me an answer.
From what I understand, being scrolled means your name and rank being brought before congress. I believe they have to approve the names. If that is the case doesn't that mean they have to let us know if we are commissioned and accept the commission before scrolling the names?
If we are indeed waiting to be scrolled then you can check here to see when they put lists up for nomination:
U.S. Senate: Legislation & Records Home > Nominations > Nominations in Committees (non-Civilian)
The list itself can be viewed in the Senate record (choose HTML) for the day of the nomination here:
Browse Daily Issues of the Congressional Record - 112th Congress - THOMAS (Library of Congress)
From the daily record select nominations link then follow the link within that page to see the actual list of individuals who's nomination has been passed by the Senate.
Good Luck to all.
I love how the recruiters, are just like "we will hear something soon, just relax and chill and have a great time this thanksgiving." And in your head you are thinking, "thanksgiving, I cannot even get myself to eat breakfast, the only thing I am eating is fingernails, this is crazy and I cannot shut it off" lol
