Recent EVIT students - LPN program

Hi all,

I am aiming for the August start at EVIT. The only thing I have to do is get my cna license; I will be starting a 3 week class next month.

Have any of you recently attended EVIT for the Practical nursing program. I see tons of post from years ago, however, nothing recent. Yes, I am aware that I could take the ASN right, but I'd like to skip the waiting list and pre-reqs. A huge plus for me is that the program is ONLY 12 months. I do know that Gateway has a PN program, but I there is a waitlist between 6-12 months.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

I have a friend who graduated from EVIT's LPN program this past year and she said while the school was fine, she didn't feel like it prepared her well for real world nursing. She also had lots of issues with the billing department and they withheld her diploma until her entire student loan was paid off. Have you already taken the TEAS test through EVIT for entrance to their program?

You are right about the Gateway waitlist, though. I waited for 1.5 years to get accepted. It's a lengthy wait right now- but also only requires a CNA license and a passing HESI test score.

Hello ! I am interested in this program as well. Anyone have any specific details on what was lacking in this PN program? I plan to apply to Gateway's LPN program as well. I am taking the community college or LPN to BSN route. I already have a BSc and MHA in Health Administration. I'm trying to be smarter this time around !!

Hello! I am a current student set to graduate next month. If I knew then what I know now, I would have waited the extra 1.5 years it takes to get into Gateway's program. While my instructors have been amazing, there have been a lot of financial aid issues. Unless you come from a lot of money, or have excellent credit to get personal loans, don't even waste your time. Most of us pay anywhere from $600-&1200 per month out of pocket for tuition. Mind you this is after receiving the full Pell Grant amount. The school does offer one or two $1,000 scholarships throughout the year, but it barely scratches the surface. They will and have kicked people out if they miss payments. As it stands right now, nearly half of our class is in danger of being kicked out of the program 4 WEEKS before graduation. Keep in mind we have at this point paid at least $11,000 so far. They do not work with you, even if you try to pay every paycheck. It's all or nothing, and they will lock you out of class until paid in full, and you cannot make up any exams or days you missed due to financial aid problems. Please do yourselves a favor, and look elsewhere, or just tough out the waiting period. The last thing you want to do is get to the very end of a program, have a financial emergency, and get kicked out of nursing school a month before you're due to receive your diploma.
