I am going to operate a per diem nurse agency in Phoenix. But I want a agency that nurses want to work for. My background has been in staffing for the last 6 years mostly IT, Eng. and everything but nursing. I want to have the best reputation, I know if a nurse is happy with the agency they work for I will in return be happy with the business. Any suggestions or ideas you can help me with? How to get started, licensing, contract, contacts anything. I would greatly appreciate. Mostly what a nurse looks for in a local agency?
Thank you...

You are getting into a real can of worms in Arizona.........Unless you have a huge financial backing don't even attempt it. The Arizona Hospital Association is quite strong, and it will take you several years to be able to place thru any of their hospitals, which is most of them as per diem agency......
You need to have a strong educator on staff, etc..............
I would definitely think of something else to do, not nursing agency in Arizona.
I have owned an agency for years out east, as well as worked agency in Arizona for over 14 years so I know the market quite well..............no way would I touch it..........
Also, to really function well, you would need to have several offices around the valley due to the shear size of it and to make it easy on the nurses, and that means a large overhead.......just isn't worth it..........
