Arizona NS Wait Time

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

So, I was planning on going into the Banner Fellows program, but Im getting so much advice not to do that just because those three years we have to work for them, they can make hell..

SO I guess Im looking at other opportunities.. Banner Fellows is definately still an option because from the threads on this Arizona Nurses Forum, I have seen nothing bad about the schooling, but I have heard bad things about Banner itself.. Which, I know there could be bad things anywhere you work.. But this is besides the question..

Does anyone know what the wait time to get into nursing school at any of the community colleges here in the Valley?

I really dont want to wait years longer, and if I can get in months after Im done w/ my prereqs I might as well just go into the Banner Fellows program, and if its so horrible just pay off my tuition...

Hi all,

I read these posts and feel your frustration. I am an adjunct instructor with the MCC system. First let me begin by telling you the waite can be two months or two years. It is done by lottery so if you happen to be drawn for fall of 07 and just signed up this summer you are lucky if not you waite.

Secondly, I suggest that if your goal is to finsih school go to a BSN fast track porgram, the prereqs are the same and the waite time is far less. Why spend two or three years or semesters waiting for entrance into a two year program when you can enroll in an 18 month fast track BSN through UofP or Grand Canyon. I have suggested this to many waiting students. Infact I heard from one today, she has been waiting since last summer to get into a MCCC program applied two weeks ago to the fastrack at GCU and was accepted and started this week.

So think about it, the length of time is the same, the waite is less and the degree is higher, yes the tution is higher but easily paid back when you are working as a RN in two years, vs just starting your ADN program.

Dear Experienced RN--

Please realize that there are many ways to be a nurse and become a nurse. I am really tired of you putting down other newer private schools (such as EBSN and Apollo), as these institutions are filling the gaps left by the ridiculous waiting lists from MCCC. I am just so tired of your negative, biased outlook. It really makes me realize that there are so many negative, close-minded people out there in nursing.

I'm glad you weren't my instructor, as your one-way thinking would have deterred me from pursuing my career.

Jamonit,

I agree with you it is to bad there are so many close minded individuals out there you being one of them. If you really read the post and understand what is being said. It does nothing more than respond to the orginial post. Nothing negative, just offering several alternatives. As for putting down other schools, I do not I speak the truth. I am glad you had a postive experiance at a school less than a good reputation. You are one of the LUCKY ones. Everyone deserves to know what is avialiable and there is no differance me telling vs you telling. This is where matruity plays a role, Some can see the posts for what they are and some can not.
