  1. You can also join the American College of Cardiovascular Nurses, Inc. They are strictly a cardiovascular nurses organization and have a lot to offer, I have been a member since the late 90s and got certified through them.
  2. It is not strictly cardiac in focus. I took it and you should have no problem with it. There is another credentialling for Cardiac nurses that is a three tier program through the American College of Cardiovascular Nurses. Inc. www.accn.net. The level I and II exams are tough, but well worth the frustration.
  3. I have not heard of such a thing, I am in a web based program and our evals are done via video confrence at the end of each rotation.
  4. I think that anyone acheiving a doctoral degree earns the right to be addressed as Dr. This is going to be an interesting fight. And as more DNP's graduate we will see it flare. Sadly nurses do not realize that if we would band together we would be a force to reckon with stronger than the AMA.
  5. Congrats on the interview. But why are you interviewing to get into a school? I have never had to do so.
  6. I have not heard anything good from the staff that works there, it is an abrazo affiliated hospital so it is for profitt, and has alot of the politics associated with for profitts.
  7. Yes this can and does happen, I have had it occur with several patients one just this week. Great catch on your part. I do have one concern, you work on a tele unit and cary a load of 6 patients, I find this very dangerous. We have a max of 4, with ample support staff. And, you are correct a well trained tele tech is worth their weight in gold.
  8. I work at JCL they have an awesome new grad program and the pay is highly competitive. Benefits are some of the best in the valley and they offer a tution payback as well as tution for continuing your education. Best of luck and congrats
  9. I am a GCU alumni, I would check UOP and GCU to see which program best meets your needs.
  10. Undergrad tution is around 395 a credit hour at GCU..
  11. I can offer this bit of advice. I have been a nurse now for 20 years and I applied for and accepted a camp nurse postion 2300 miles away from home directly after graducation. I loved it! I learned so much and the other nurses (3) were at various levles of experiance. one was also a new grad. The bottom line is most camps these days have more than one nurse, generally there is one that has experiance and one les experianced. There is also generally a Dr. avial if not on camp premis with in reasonable distance. I encourage you to try camp nursing when you feel you are ready. It is an experiance you will not forget.
  12. Hi, I am a 2006 graduate of the program as well as 2008 MSN grad and currently in the NP program. The education you will recieve is awesome and well worth the effort. The papers can be demanding but the program is very doable for a fulltimer with a family. Commitment is the key Best of luck
  13. Hi all, Firs let me commend you on begining your journey through the nursing program. I am a ADN graduate of GCC 20 yrs ago it was a wonderfull program. Over the last several years since 2004 I have obtianed my BSN and MSN as well as a busssiness degree through GCU I also teach as adjunct faculty in the RN-B program. The curiculm is wonderful. The instructors are there for you, understanding and always willing to assist. I strongly encourage you to obtian your nursing degree through GCU the price may be a bit higher but it is well worth the experience you will have. Best of luck
  14. MCCLRE1, In areance, like I said in my previouse post, it depends where you are in life. Fourtunatly there are many choices to help with what ever path is choosen.
  15. llg, I think it has nothing to do with articulation of the information. It has to do with by in. If the nurse is one that buys into the whole nursing theory way of being then that is all well and good. There are many who do not. Many PhD prepared nurses that dispute theory base. I think it is a personell decission and it depends on how you look at the work you are doing. Is it theroy based being Watson, ect or is theroy based being God.
