Areas of the human brain

Published

En student here again, I have a couple of questions here and wasnt sure where they belong so the general area is where it is.

I was pondering over this question last night reagarding the location of different areas in the brain.

I know that the brain is divided into right and left cerebral hemispheres, and the folds of the cerebral cortex have names to help in the description of the areas of the brain so the questions is:

Below the cerebrum and behind the midbrain is another structure known as the cerebellum?

I know this may seem vague or at least it does to me and thats why I am having trouble with this one, please help put it into perspective.

And if anyone has good resources for drug calculations or can help keep them simple I would love to indulge and lastly what would be a good way to describe abdominal tenderness & The upper quadrent????????

Thanks in advance

the folds of the brain are called the gyri and the fissures are the sulci. the cerebellum is the hind brain and then there's the brain stem, along with the cerebral hemispheres already mentioned.

for dosage calculations i would try "dosage calculations made incredibly easy". and to describe abd tenderness, i would write pt c/o abd tenderness in ruq/luq; active/hyperactive/hypoactive/absent bowel sounds x ___ quads. abd distended/non-distended. pt noted w/rebound tenderness upon palpation (or not). you just want to note your assessment, pt c/o, interventions. you never make a dx, just what the pt presents with.

hopefully you found some of this helpful.

This is great information, and definatly gives me something to look up later so that I can see it for myself and know what I will be talking about, you rock.

I have heard of that book, maybe I'll look/ask around today and see where I can get it, thanks

Cardinal rule #1 never diagnose- as we write in patient notes are only the facts of what we have seen and done, never an opinion.

Thanks heaps Leslie you are wonderful
