Hi!
I am doing my pre-reqs for my nursing program right now. I have a BA in English/Professional Writing already and am going back to get my BSN in Fall of 2010. I have applied to a few programs here in the U.S. but what I really want to do is study abroad in the UK, preferably England. The only problem is that I am having a really difficult time finding a nursing program that will let you study abroad for the duration of the program. At most, I am finding maybe one semester.
Does anyone know of any U.S. Nursing programs that are based in England. Or on the other hand, a UK program that is accredited in the U.S. so that when I go back, it will be a fairly easy transition. I am having a hard time getting started on this research.
Any help would be amazing and greatly appreciated. Has anyone done this before and had success?
Thanks,
Stacey

Why should another country have a school to train nurses to another country's standards?
Education in the UK is publicly funded, why would the taxpayers there want to fund a school that didn't produce nurses to meet their own needs?

Training in the UK is done differently to the US and is more specialised. it is like Fiona mentioned funded publicly and if an International student may struggle to find a university accepting international students for nursing. preference will always be given to a UK citizen.
If you are lucky enough to find a university accepting you as an International student and your training covers all areas both clinically and theory then you shouldn't have any problems getting accepted in the US but you will have to meet the state requirements for foreign trained and jump through different hoops to those you would have to jump through if you trained in the US. Be aware that international fees will be high and you will be required to prove that you can support yourself whilst a student
