Are there any traditional accelerated nursing programs for students w/degree?

Published

Hello everyone,

I am aware of the accelerated degree programs that can be done in 12-18 months, but I am not interested in those programs due to my situation. I haven't found any traditional programs besides D'youville college that will accept me as a transfer student in Buffallo, NY. Please let me know if you are aware of any traditional programs that accept degree student as a transfer or any programs that is about two years, just as long as an associate degree in nursing. I am located in CT, but I am willing to move anywhere I could find that program.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP!

Peter

Keene state college and Plymouth state university, both are in New Hampshire. I think Plymouth state is more of what you're looking for. The nursing classes doesn't start until junior year there so it's easier to transfer in.

AFAIK, pretty much any traditional nursing program that is set up as two years of prereqs/general ed and two years of nursing courses can take people with existing degrees as transfer students. The last time I taught in a (traditional) BSN program, we had several students who had other degrees.

I suggest you check the websites for nursing programs that interest you, working outward geographically from where you are now, and identify which ones are organized as 2 yrs general ed/2 yrs nursing, and then contact those schools directly to ask about transferring in. Of course, all nursing programs are pretty competitive these days.

Best wishes for your journey!
