Are second semester RN students allowed to take lpn boards?

Hi Everyone!

My name is Sandra, and I'm a RN nursing student in Ct. I am wondering if after my second semester this december, I can be eligible to take the LPN boards considering lpns join us in our third semester. And If I can, would you please tell who to contact or where to go for additional info in my state. I have tried to browse on the internet, and found out that some states allowed it. So my question is "Can I also be able to take them in another state provided I show them my transcripts?'' Any reply will be appreciated. Thankyou.

We can after our 3rd semester also, but since your then only 16 weeks away from an RN, it's not worth the money - unless there was an unforseen emergency or something, and could not complete the last semester for a while. LPN programs are much less expensive here than RN programs, so it's really not cost-wise to consider it.

The plus I see, for me anyway, is that we will become LNA's after our first semester, so I can work per-diem as an LNA the rest of my way through school.

I'm also in Oklahoma and we can sit for LPN boards after second semester. I'm not going to though.
