Are Online Nursing Professors really able to work remotely?

Published

Greetings!!

I recently acquired my MSN in nursing and am looking ahead at working toward a Ph.D. As I progressed through graduate studies, I found that I had a growing desire to teach. Ultimately, I would love to function as an online nursing professor. For those who currently hold such positions - are you really able to work from home? My concern is that some (or many) universities may expect their faculty to work from campus. Thank you in advance for your help!

Sincerely,

Able to work at home? I couldn't work on campus if I wanted to. The school provides me with nothing -- no office, no desk, no mail box, no secretary, no computer, etc. They don't even provide textbooks consistently. Yes, there are some advantages not being tied to a campus. But sometimes, I wish I had the support that on-campus teachers get.

I work from home except for two university-paid trips out of state annually for academic meetings.

Best.

Job.

Ever.

Thank you both for your input!! I really loved the online format for my graduate experience and loved the professors that I worked with!!
