Are there hospitals hiring new RNs in Vegas?

Published

I am a new RN. Just wondering if there's a hospital hiring new RNs in Vegas? My friend passed in March unfortunately she's still jobless. Please reply...:(

not NO ONE but only few will hire. im a new grad but luckily found a job.

Specializes in ER, Mobile Home Healthcare.

spongbob.... where did you get a job at.. I'm moving there in 3 n weeks when my boyfriend get back from deployment.

The thing that sucks, and I actually had this confirmed by a recruiter....is that hospitals are hiring traveling nurses who of course are already experienced. Those, coupled with the older nurses who should have retired but didn't because they lost their 401K's in the downturn are taking the positions that would have been filled by us new graduates. I asked the recruiter, "but aren't you afraid that when the economy gets better, the traveling nurses will start traveling again and the others will retire?" She said, "Well, I AM!!" Which says that recruiters are worried about the fallout when things get better, but that the administrative pencil-pushers aren't. These idiots still haven't learned their lessons from the late 70s-early 80s, and the early 90s fiascos where they did the exact same thing in an economic downturn. Know what happened? Yeah, the economy got better, they lost these nurses back to traveling and retirement and were left with a short nursing staff and then started screaming at nursing schools that they weren't pumping out nurses fast enough. Ridiculous but true. Anyone wanna bet its gonna happen again?

Alaska and Florida have massive amounts of RN positions available. I went on Sunrise Hospital website and they must be sister hospitals. I do not have experience to know which ones are for experienced or new grads but their lists are super long...

I hope this helps.

As a new grad (December!) who did my senior preceptorship at Sunrise, I can tell you I've had MANY rejections from them. I have yet to get anything other than a "no thank you" email or see "rejected" when I go back to view the website. I've sent out over 95 resumes and have only 5 that still show as open. Three of those are at a hospital where I worked as a patient sitter during school and the manager remembers me asking off for a nursing honor society induction. It is sad when that is the saving grace you have to keep from being rejected. We have been told since the beginning of first semester that Las Vegas is not new grad friendly and it shows when many of the postings have in bold red letters...NO NEW GRADS. :( That being said, I have a phone interview for an OUT OF STATE job in the morning. Good luck with your search here but to find an open position, you'll probably need some face to face contact with the nursing recruiter in the hospital's office.
