I have seen a topic in which someone states they have been accepted to a Connecticut Community College program, as of yesterday. Do CT Comm. College Nursing programs really have rolling admissions? Do they just select people they see fit via rank and the time they applied? Am I at a huge disadvantage because I can't apply until January 09 as opposed to November 08? (Deadline is Feb 2, 2009.)

The Ct Comm College System is comprised of 5 schools and the deadline I believe is usually late Jan. The schools obviously all have the same requirements to apply. From what I remember, you are ranked 50% gpa, 25% AP1 grade and 25% TEAS(or it might be 25 gpa/50 TEAS). When you apply it gets sent to the State and you get ranked statewide. Then based on your #1 choice the school will get 60% out of the ranks and 40% will be a lottery. Once your #1 school fills its slots you then go on to the next school and the same procedure as #1. Goodwin is the only nursing program that has a rolling admissions I believe.

Application deadline is Feb. 1 for the following September -- so this year's deadline has passed. Check Gateway Community College's Web site. There's a link to a very thorough info packet about admissions requirements for the nursing program. The info applies to all the CT community colleges that offer nursing degrees.
