Do you feel computer charting is really faster? Or does it take five steps to do one and use much more paper?

Haven't had to use one to chart things up to now, but they are attempting to bring it in this year.
It depends on how the charting is done, it could be faster, but 10 to 1, it'll be slower as the powers that be will be using the cheapest system possible.

When I started out nearly 7 years ago, we had computer charting - small rural hospital - and it was fabulous. Easy to use and fairly rapid. The only paper we used were the kardexes for basic report, and MARs to document what time meds were given.
Now I'm at a large teaching hospital and we use all paper charting. SLOW and TEDIOUS. We are finally in the process of making the switch to computer charting.

I don't know if it's faster, but it sure is more legible.
