Hello,
This is a forum for those who applied to APU ELM Fall 2021 program! I applied to the main campus.
Just received an email to schedule an online interview - anyone else?
Hello future nurses,
I got accepted to Spring 2022 (San Diego). I have only one question: what is the NCLEX pass rate for the Master's program? I sent this question to my advisor and program coordinator, but they didn't answer it. I saw 84%, but it's the average for all programs (I need only ELM). I got accepted to other schools with 95 and 92%, but they are both out of state. I still don't know what to do.
Thank you!

Some stats about myself: I had a 3.5 non science GPA and a 3.2 science GPA, I’ve worked for 5 years as an emergency veterinary technician and volunteered in a nursing unit for 1 year. This just goes to show that grades don’t mean everything! They are definitely look for genuine, well rounded people. Good luck to everyone and I’m looking forward to our future cohort!
Hello, I am applying for the second time as well, what was the process like?
Hi not sure if anyone else checks this thread since it's a bit old. But I applied for apu for fall 2023 and have not received any updates (acceptance or rejection). I'm pretty sure I am not starting this fall but hoping to be accepted for a later term. For those of you who were accepted into a different term than you applied for, how long after your interview did you find out?

Hey @Nurse_Gavin77, first of all congratulations making it this far to apply to the nursing program. To answer your question during my interview process it was usually about a month before starting. I myself did not get an acceptance email. I had to sign back into the portal, clicked on admission then click on application status. No one had told me just found it browsing through.

I actually received an email earlier saying I am on the waitlist. Not entirely sure what that means but I'm hoping I got accepted into another cohort/term.
Hi Yerm,
In all honesty, the quality of a nursing program often boils down to the effort and dedication students put into their studies. Throughout my experience and interactions with fellow students during clinicals, I've noticed common complaints across different programs. These include overwhelming workload within limited timeframes, last-minute changes, and challenges in securing suitable clinical sites. For instance, there was an instance where our cohort was asked to commute two hours to a clinical site, but we collectively decided against it. Despite these challenges, if we compare against these common issues, my experience at APU isn't as dire.
The classes at APU are engaging, although some topics are inherently challenging to make interesting. The skills lab provides ample opportunity for hands-on practice, with instructors readily available for guidance and clarification. However, there have been instances where the instructor altered the expected procedure during competency tests, leading to frustration among students. Nevertheless, this experience teaches adaptability and critical thinking skills, which are invaluable in nursing.
Simulation exercises, while beneficial, could be enhanced further. Personally, I have no significant concerns about the program; I've received excellent recommendation letters from my clinical instructors and have secured a great job. My only advice for future students would be to prioritize preparation for the Kaplan exam and NCLEX from day one, rather than waiting until graduation, to avoid unnecessary stress.
Overall, while no program is without its flaws, focusing on proactive preparation and maintaining a positive attitude can greatly enhance the nursing education experience.
hope this helps.
