Hi, I am a FNP student graduating in December in NH and I am trying to find out what it would take to be able to 1st assist in the OR for an orthopedic surgeon. If anyone has any information on what I would need to do it would be greatly appreciated.

Depends on whether the job requires an RNFA as well or will provide OJT. Information on RNFA. Also may depend on whether you are hired by a facility or by a surgical group. Many of the surgical groups in my OR have hired PAs with a few NPs thrown in to be their first assistants. All FAs hired by the facility are either RNFA (no advanced degree required) or CFAs.
