Hello,
I will be applying to the University of Miami's BSN-DNP program in a few months, so I wanted to start this thread. I found this blog site to be very helpful during the time of which I applied for nursing school.
Feel free to post her both alums and people like myself who will be applying to the school with me in this spring. I'm interested in knowing more about getting in. What are some of the key points the school focus on? This is aside from the general things listed on the website. I meet all of the basic requirements.
For example, another school I'm interested in focused on teaching. So, it appeared those with a teaching background who came from a good ICU were exceptional canidates.
I'm nervous and excited about applying and am hopeful that I will get in soon. If anyone would like to share with me specifics on the school, since I have yet to visit that would be very helpful. If I am invited to an interview, I plan to visit in person. I live in Georgia, so it's not a quick drive down.
I plan to take the ccrn prior to submitting my app. For those who have been through the program or been accepted, do you all think it makes a difference if you have your ccrn prior to submitting your app?
I know the program does not require the GRE, but would it be worth taking it as well? For those accepted, how many years of ICU experience on average do these applicants have? Do you all think the type of experience is considered, for example 2 years in a Level 1 SICU vs 5 years in a small MICU?
