Applying for nursing and im so worried!!

Published

Alright, so I know nursing is extremely competitive! Im soo nervous about getting in. Honestly this is the only program I want to get into but im not sure if I will!!

So im applying to the nursing program at uOttawa as my 1st option and the collaborative program of uOttawa with algonquin college as my 2nd. The admission averages are 86-88 for my 1st option and 82-86 for my second option and they only accept 120 people for each of my options!

I was wondering if these marks will give me a good chance of getting in or not???

Bio 85

Chem 80

English 90

Advanced functions 95

World issues 97

Excercise science 97

Its a 90.7% avg. Im so worried!!

Also, since my prerequisite marks are kind of low, would the universities reconsider me? Or are they just going to calculate my top 6U courses??

Thank you!!!!!

Also, who else is applying to uottawa nursing and with what averages??

I am very sure you will be accepted, just send in your application and let them decide, but in my opiniion i think you are a great student and they can see your other marks to know how smart you are so dont worry..

Your marks are actually pretty good. I'm sure you will get accepted. It's difficult to give you an exact cut off range since it changes every year, but a 90.7 % looks pretty good in my opinion.

If you want to find out how the University of Ottawa calculates averages for admissions or want more information you should contact the school :)

Your average is 90%...of course you will get in silly! I know the waiting game is stressful, but seriously you have excellent marks.

Thank you! And yea waiting for that acceptance feels like forever! But ill be patient

Thank you so much!

Alright I will contact them for further information. Thank you:)

With those marks, you wouldn't have a problem getting into most nursing programs, even McMaster.

Why wouldn't you do the collaborative as a 1st option? Better shot of getting in, you save thousands in tuition by spending first two years in college, your classes are smaller and makes learning so much easier (believe me in nursing you want all the help and attention you can get) because instructors can pay more attention to their students individually and help support them in their learning (imagine class of 50 vs 150), especially the first two years when you learn the most difficult and new content.,, if you don't know your A&P and disease process well by end of 2nd year, you will have a VERY hard time in the last 2. Than you move over to University for final two years and still graduate with a BScN from the exact same University and what is left of the ones who opted to start at University first .... I just have never understood why, when given the choice, you would choose the most expensive and difficult route? ... Thats my opinion at least. And Im Sure you will have a choice of either with those marks! Good Luck:nurse:

I think the reason is because most (if not all) of the collaborative programs have a university price tag for all 4 years of the program.

Unfortunately the Algonquin website directs you to uOttawa website when you try to access the cost for the collab program.
