Applying a job on the internet

I'm wondering how long does it typically take to hear from an employer when you apply for a job on the internet?

Also, how long does it take to get an interview from them?

Thank you for your help.

It's not unheard of for it to be a month. I recently applied online, didn't hear anything, so I started calling them. I now have an interview with them on Tuesday.

I applied for several LNA jobs online. It wasn't until after I decided to send hard copies of my resume via snail mail that I finally heard something, and ended up getting 2 interviews within a week.

I suppose every facility is different, but out of 6 places I applied online, none called until after receiving my resume via mail. And of the ones that did not respond with a phone call for an interview, sent me a postcard that they got my resume and would keep it on file. I didn't receive any response like that from just submitting it online.

IMO, I'd follow up with sending the resume snail mail. I'm not sure why, maybe the cover letter or seeing a nicely designed resume gets their attention more than the online application.

Depends on where you're applying and how technologically savvy the HR staff is. Just because they have an online application doesn't mean the people in charge of reading them are comfortable doing so. I applied online and heard back within a couple of days. Just depends on the place!

I have had replies within the hour. On the other hand I have had replys months later. It just depends on the employer and how agressive they are at recuriting.

Some reply by email, some by phone, some snail mail.

Some employers do not even accept paper applications anymore.

I have had a nurse recruiter for a hospital specifically say, " Do not apply online to this facility, because once you press the finish button for the app. it is lost in cyberspace." So I sent it via snailmail and had an interview within days.

Just make sure if you do apply online, touch base with them via telephone to make sure the app was actually received and to show your interest and initiative..
