? about applying to hospitals after failing

Hi everyone, please answer if you can. I graduated in May 2006 with my BSN, took my nclex in Dec. 2006, and failed. I re-took them in June 2007 and passed. Nowm I am applying to hospitals, and they want to know why I waited a year after graduation to get licensed. Do I have to tell them, and if I don't, will they be able to find out? I don't want to lie, but I am applying to very competitive hospitals and already ahve a small chance of getting hired. I'd really appreciate your help! thanks!

Where I work they do not care. It is a very big hospital also. I have failed three times and was told multiple times it does not matter how many times you take the test. That does not make the nurse. Be as honest as you can. The Lord will take care of it if it is his will!! Best of luck
