I have a question I'm hoping someone can assist me with. I am currently looking for a PT job, but only see FT jobs posted. Would it be okay to apply to a FT position and then speak to the HR recruiter/nurse manager more about the position once we speak? There are a number of FT positions open in the department I am looking to work and I would assume a PT employee is better than no employee...?
I'd appreciate any insight or experiences you can offer. Thank you!

Good luck on that... In my experience most places have little trouble finding part time staff and would not fill a FT line with a multiple part timers - they then have to pay benefits etc and train up two employees instead of one. You can apply of course, but don't expect that they will jump over the proposition!

If they are desperate enough for new staff they may be willing to consider it. But think about this, if they are desperate enough for staff to basically create a new position for you is that really someplace you think you'll want to work?

I once applied and was hired for a part time position. I was made to work full time more often then not and the full timers had to work overtime. So no I would not. Also I could see the manager getting irritated you’re wasting their time if you aren’t willing to work what the job posting was for. I would wait for a part time position if I were you.
