Applying for Assessment fo Eligibility for Registration of IEN

Published

hello! I'm new! :nurse: if anyone can bring light to my confusion, God bless you! :)

I am a BSN graduate batch 2008, iv had only 5 months of experience in a hospital, and my work now isn't really related to nursing (i'm now a dental assistant/dental rad tech/dent tech). I have an aunt living in Alberta who is now a LPN and was planning to take me to live with her through Canada's sponsorship program, family class. But it appears that i am not eligible to be sponsored (since i am not orphaned nor under age of 18, i am now 24.)

My aunt, before leaving for Canada, took the CRNE for LPNs and immediately had an employer that took her there. She tells me to visit CARNA's website and apply for assessment for eligibility for registration of IEN. I have not started the process, and still planning to take the IELTS exam. I have passed the NCLEX-RN year 2009, but they say it is not relevant for what i am applying for now. I guess my questions/confusions are: say, i did pass the IELTS and have passed the necessary requirements, how long does it take to know that i am eligible to take the CRNE? and with God's graces, say i am now eligible, how will i get to Canada? Does it mean, while waiting for my eligibility, I should apply for Canadian Visa?

My aunt is very busy and unfortunately cannot answer my unending questions, but she is very willing to help me through all of these. Can anyone tell me if her being a permanent resident in Alberta, and an LPN, help my chances of working in there too as an RN?

Thank you all so much!

There are MANY threads on this topic here in the International Forum, where your thread belongs - it isn't something that affects Canadian nurses, only those from outside the country... I recommend you read through them and see if your questions are answered there. There are threads that discuss the CRNE, IELTS, visas, work permits, finding work and so much more. It's really unnecessary to go over them all again.
