Hi all,
Last week I applied to 9 different nursing units at one hospital and very quickly received a interview invitation from one of the units, but not in the specialty that I had hoped. The status of my other applications are still pending and I really would like to see if they extend an interview, but the interview offer I did receive is scheduled in a couple days.
As a new grad, I know I absolutely cannot be picky and this is an EXCELLENT hospital with a GREAT year-long residency program, but I would be going out-of-state for the interview (driving) and one of the other open positions would be more relevant to where I eventually want to take my career (critical care).
What should I do? Would HR let me interview with the other units while I have this one scheduled? Would I need to make multiple trips if they do?
Any advice is VERY appreciated!!! Thanks in advance!!!

You can schedule interviews for as many different positions as you like.
As for having to go multiple times, unless you can coordinate all of your interviews to be done on the same day, you will likely need to do some back and forth driving. There are numerous HR employees and the same one may not do the interviewing for all of the positions you've applied for. Plus, they generally coordinate with the supervisor on the unit to attend the interview as well and their schedules may not totally line up with yours.
Another thing I've noticed is that the hiring process at hospitals can be pretty lengthy; don't hold out for too long for one position and end up missing out on another one. (This is coming from someone who just interviewed on Monday for 1/30 applied positions that I applied to all the way back in May!).
Good luck!
Thank you so much!! You are absolutely right. I just got an email today from another recruiter today.
